Imaginary Vids Revisited
Mar. 4th, 2007 05:42 pmApparently the Fannish Friday Five was imaginary vids, which seems a little unfair to vidders, but maybe vidders can just write about vids for which the source doesn't exist but oh it should; and in fact I think I will include a little of that myself. Yes.
- "Flathead" by The Fratellis - In my head this is a BtVS/Supernatural crossover vid where Buffy and Faith are dancing in clubs and kicking ass and Dean and Sam are trailing helplessly in their wake (or, you know, as helplessly as Winchesters get) with their tongues hanging out, not sure whether they're trying to get into the fight or to get laid and honestly not sure which would be the better option. (Dean is all for fighting and then getting laid, because for things like that he aims big.) So, yeah, Buffy and Faith are whirling around and breaking glass and breaking bones and staking things, and maybe there's one point where Dean and Sam break out the big stakes from "Tall Tales" and Buffy and Faith are like, "Overcompensating much?" and the boys are like, "Uh ..." So there's lots of paralleled sexy violence, and it ends with Buffy dragging off Faith and Faith yelling over her shoulder, "Call me!" and the Winchesters sort of collapsing in chairs, dazed and confused and maybe with their hands hanging down limp because I think that's sexy. "I just ... dude. What was that?" "Dunno. Think we can talk them into doing it again?"
Sadly I do not think the footage for most of this exists. But it would make me so happy if it did.
Incidentally, The Fratellis' Costello Music has the world's most danceable music and I keep rotating most of the album through my "Get Up and Move" playlist and more of you should check it out, even if you're not going to vid Faith and Sam and Buffy and Dean to it for me. - "One More Murder" by Better Than Ezra - My imaginary vids are big on the SPN crossovers right now. This one is a crossover with The X Files where Dean and Sam and Mulder and Scully are researching the same monster and have near-encounters and narrow escapes and they all manage to kill the monster together without realizing the others are involved, and then Dean and Sam peel out of town before the Feds can lock them up.
Or else it's an American Gods, which is even more imaginary because of the lack of any footage whatsoever. - "Water" by Holly McNarland - At first I thought this was a Buffy/Faith vid from Buffy's point of view, but I was never absolutely convinced it was the perfect song for a Buffy/Faith vid from Buffy's point of view. I just really wanted a Buffy/Faith vid from Buffy's point of view and I really loved the song and, well, I got stuck on it. And now I'm thinking it could actually make a really good Buffy vid sort of centered on Buffy/Faith but also about the Buffy/Faith/Angel triangle and Buffy/Spike and the baby slayers and Buffy's need for companionship and sisterhood and water and deserts and--huh. If I ever vid, maybe. But probably not.
- "Youngstown" by Bruce Springsteen - I think most of the lyrics are probably too specific to work as an SPN vid (although I have this whole thing where bombs and weapons winning WWII = Dean trained up as a baby soldier), but I deeply want a dark Dean vidlet focused on Dean falling apart circa "Bloodlust" and the last verse: When I die, I don't want no part of Heaven/I would not do Heaven's work well/I pray the devil comes and takes me/to stand in the fiery furnances of Hell. Or I could also go for "The Ghost of Tom Joad" as a Dean song, except I get so nakedly sentimental about it I think it's probably LKBV territory.
Shut up. Dean loves the Boss. You know he does. - "Lover I Don't Have to Love" (remix) by Apogee - This would make such a brutal and effective vid about date rape in Veronica Mars that thinking about it kind of makes me feel sick. Blurry lights, pulsing blackness--it would work so well.
