Vid of the con

I've been thinking that in a huge dramatic irony the Premiere vid that will rock everyone off their socks at Vividcon this year will end up being an Evanescence vid by some newbie no one's ever heard of. Not only that, it will be a subtle, exciting, brilliant vid to "Bring Me to Life," one that both recruits skeptical fans to an entirely new fandom and amazes existing fans with revelations about characters they'd thought had been vidded to death. We'll retire to the bar in small, shaken huddles.

Fan A: Evanescence. It can't be true.
Fan B: It's like a nightmare. [grabs Fan A's arm] WAKE ME UP!
Fan A: [seizes Fan B's shoulders and shakes her] WAKE UP!
Fan B: BUT I CAN'T WAKE UP!
Fan A: WAKE UP!
Fan B: BUT I CAN'T WAKE UP!
Fan C: [To bartender] The rest of us don't actually know these people.
Fan D: Unless they're paying for the drinks.
Fan C: Unless they're paying for the drinks.

Oh my goodness, it's a really good Gravitation vid.  One does exist! I'm so relieved. I mean "Can't Make It."  "Shuichi's Back" is cute, too--I'm not made of stone; I can't resist a vid to "The Cat Came Back." But it's "Can't Make It" that really does it for me. I wasn't convinced by the credits scene, then the umbrellas shot caught me, then I was afraid the vidder was going to try to fill an entire vid with Shuichi insecurity, which would be just several minutes too much, but there's a POV switch and it all works. This is a shipper vid -- but it's a smart shipper vid. Oh, I'm so pleased. More later.
