eta:
3:35 PM me: do you know what gives me joy? it gives me joy that the manga about the anthropomorphic penises is on the yuletide noms list.
Nestra: snork.
3:40 PM me: i didn't even have to nominate it myself.
Nestra: That's the joy of fandom.
3:41 PM me: do i want to volunteer to write it? i mean. it'd be kind of embarassing. "yeah, i wrote the talking penises story." and i wouldn't even get the cachet of weirdest story, because bdsm care bears is the perennial winner.
Nestra: Oh, I don't know about that. You might look at it as "When else will I have this opportunity?"
3:44 PM me: there is nothing to stop me from writing about talking penises at any time. anything except, you know, lack of interest and abundance of shame.
Nestra: So yuletide would be like manufactured interest.
3:45 PM me: it is true.
although i am kind of into one couple in the manga. not the penises. the boys they're attached to.
wow, that is not a paragraph i thought i would ever write.
3:47 PM Nestra: I imagine that's...weird.
3:51 PM me: it is. v. weird.

2. You've requested Coffee Prince OMG!! (What? It's not like I have one-track mind or anything.)
3. Clearly I need to watch/read more media/manga/whatever since I only know of, like, four out of the entire list. Oyce pimping Nana had me intrigued. I may look around to see if I could get my hands on the manga.

Also also, there is an anime that goes up to around v. 11 or 12 of the manga if you'd rather watch something and I am sure I can find it somewhere and send it to you!
/mad pimpage
Also also also, if you were to dip your toe into the world of manga, I think you'd really like Emma/Victorian Romance Emma (it's Emma here in the US). Thankfully, CMX seems to be doing a fairly good job with the translation, though I can't tell if it's period-appropriate. The translation, that is, not the manga, as Mori Kaoru seems to adore obsessive research on all aspects of Victorian life and she is AWESOME and has the bestest author notes with the possible exception of Yuki Kaori who draws chibi smiling saints with eyes on plates.
Um. Possibly I should not have mentioned that as Yuki Kaori is TEH CRACK.
/ends pimpage for real

I've heard of Emma from Mely's review! It does indeed seem like my speed. Since both you and Mely think I'd like it, I'll trust your collective judgments and give this a try. *g*

I can't vouch for the quality of the Nana anime or the Emma anime, but that's only because I haven't seen them. Nearly everyone I've talked to has agreed that the Nana anime is excellent though, and I haven't heard that much about the Emma anime, but I think it's pretty good as well.

I've been lurking. Though less since I figured out how to edit my hosts file to block LJ at work. It is that bad. Yes.
2. I blame you! I am only four episodes in but already I adore it. I wish I could burn it to DVD; I hate watching things on computer. I kinda ship the main girl with the dog's music producer dad, because they are so sweet and gentle with each other, and the main guy's a jerk and even the dog's dad is kind of a sulky teenage asshole when it comes to his real girlfriend, but my preference isn't so extreme it will ruin the ending that is clearly coming. I wish they spent as much time on the characterization of the artist as the other three, though, because she really suffers by comparison, even though she is less of a jerk than the rich kid. Except that she has to stop flirting with him. Unless allowing massive invasions of your personal space isn't flirting in Korea, but somehow I doubt it.
Seriously I love it much more than my inability to remember anyone's names would indicate.
3. Have you not seen Profit? It is so made for you! A sociopath raised by television tries to take over the major advertiser of his childhood! Played by Adrian Pasdar in his pre-Petrelli days!
You might also like Revengers Tragedy, because it has Eddie Izzard and Christopher Eccleston being v. slashy at each other while reciting iambic pentameter. I am going to make
Of the manga, I think Nana and Emma would both really appeal to you. You might also like Mushishi, which is beyond wonderful all the way into a spiritual experience.

2. I'm glad you're enjoying Coffee Prince. The main girl (Eun Chan) is adorable, no? I love her a lot. The jerkface male lead grows on you, especially as he starts to angst over his budding romantic feelings for Eun Chan. But you know me -- I do like me some quality romantic angst. The beautiful artist does get the short stick in the characterization, but at least she's not vilified, and I dug that she valued her work as much as, if not more than, her love life.
If you like, I can send you DVDs of the high-quality .avi files of the episodes with corresponding subtitle files, easy as pie. E-me with your current mailing addy if interested!
3. I have seen Profit! It is an awesome show, despite the cheesy outdated computer CGI effect. I was pretty chuffed to see Adrian Pasdar on Heroes, since he was such a delicious psychopath on Profit. One of the reason I fell so hard for Dexter last year was because it felt *exactly* like how Profit might have been, had it been given some more money and breathing room to be as darkly funny and out there as it promised to be in those few episodes. I think off your list, I've seen Profit, a handful of Dark Angel eps, then Coffee Prince and Ginger Snaps... and that's about it. Oh! And I bought The Rabbi's Cat since you and Oyce made it sound so appealing. It's on top of my ever-growing "to read" pile. *g*
I'll check out Nana and Emma. Thanks for the personalized rec! And I've never heard of Mushishi. Wiki tells me there are both manga and anime versions, both of which were highly praised. Should I try one over the other?

Narrowing it down to six was hard. I finally ended up eliminating everything that I was neither going to request nor offer to write. There are a lot of fandoms I'd love to see fic for but don't quite feel passionate enough about to ask for or know well enough to offer to write.

Hmm. Now. What to pick out of what's left.

Also,
I have connedOooo Rabbi's Cat! I didn't think of that!
And I just spotted Emma on the list!
