Vidding Love Meme

I am in a terrible mood, so I would like to make it better by seeing people say nice things about vids. Let's do a vidding love meme.

Instructions/Rules

  1. Comment with your username, a link to your vids, and the fandoms you vid for (or a selection you've vidded the most for, if you're all over the place).
  2. People will comment telling you what their favorite vid by you is, what show/character/pairing they think you vid best, and other positive comments. They can also mention what they think you should vid more of, or anything else concerning what they like about your vidding. If you don't want anything like suggestions for what you should vid more, just mention it in your original comment.
  3. Post it to your journal!
  4. This is a love meme. No wank, no insults, no concrit. Just the love!

Ooh me! Rather out of date vid masterlist and up to date vid tag. Fandoms all over the place. Most vidded: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Luther. Most recent: Wonder Woman, Gone Girl, Grey's Anatomy, Alias, Borgen, lots of festivids. So many more, so many vids!

your vids are my everything. Parable is exquisite, Birgette in Damned if You Do is the vid that I've always wanted and you and [personal profile] beccatoria are amazing effects on each other.

I don't think I ever told you that but Keep the Streets Empty for Me was suuuuch a formative vid for me. It forever changed my perspective on Twilight that I was always overly critical of, and it is in the top 5 of my favourite vids, and the deer metaphor is something I kind of paid secret homage to with my deer metaphor in my vid Begin Again (lol, even though it meant something entirely different there and wasn't executed that well. But. Deer metaphor.)
When I think of chaila I think of flawless cuts and amazing beat work and vids about amazing women.

Your vids are always so smart and thoughtful and expressive! I still absolutely adore Parable, it's so beautifully and cleverly done and tells the story so clearly. I ADORE All We Are, Past in Present and Oh Mama No, and Goodnight New York is, to steal a word from the lyrics, breathtaking, one of those vids that's beautiful even if you don't know the show, but just gets richer and deeper with every rewatch once you do.

:D I love your vision of Sarah as expressed in your vids so much.

I love your so many of your vids, but I have to give special mention to two. Firstly, Paradise Circus which is just incredible. I love all the repeated visuals and all the smaller moments that really build the atmosphere (the cracking of the egg, in particular). That was one of my favourites from that year's Festivids and is still one of my favourites. The second is Handlebars which remains the best West Wing vid ever. The love of the source and the character come through so strongly, even when you're criticising him. The editing is superb, as always, and it gives me chills every time I watch it.

I love your dedicated stanning of amazing ladies and how that's so readily apparent in your vid catalog. You vid so many criminally ignored fandoms/characters/pairings, it's so refreshing and sorely needed. Child You're a Revolution is particularly dear to me because I LOVE Athena and her family and no one else in BSG fandom seemed to care as much as I did lol. Plus you've vidded The Wire which is automatic awesome in my book, and one of those vids was Dutch which makes it awesome-squared (STRINGER, how I love you so).

And of course Watershed is beautiful and haunting and perfect and one of the two best comics-heavy vids I've ever seen. It's a masterclass in drawing musicality out of still images and seamlessly integrating them with video source to tell a story (partly out of necessity because there isn't enough Diana footage in the world, boo). I was late to the party in discovering it but it instantly became THE definitive Wonder Woman vid to me. ♥

Handlebars is just so perfect all the way around. From the song itself to the clip choice and the brilliant quick-cut editing. So much technical skill and so much cleverness and so much gut-punch. Doing justice to the show, for real.

Your vids are always in my playlists when I try to explain vids to people. Parable and Damned If You Do and your Twilight vid are stellar, and you've done so many other great vids about awesome ladies and they're all great.

I have yet to see a vid of yours I don't love, but I think my favorites are You Only Disappear, Take Me To Church, and Crazy In Love. You Only Disappear might be my favorite Doctor/River vid, period. ♥

God I just love all of your vids *so much*. You have an amazingly light touch with your editing, which somehow manages to get all the motion and all the EMOTION in together, which is something I find really hard. I've flailed at you before about how much I love Goodnight New York, and how well it worked for me both before and after I watched the show. Keep The Streets Empty For Me COMPLETELY changed my perspective on Twilight, and opened whole new ways of thinking for me in a way that I don't think any other vid has ever done. And also I really love You Only Disappear - it fills me with aaaaallll the nostalgic Doctor/River love.

I can never seem to watch "Paradise Circus" enough. It is masterful. TBH IMO not even the movie itself lives up to the vid.

"Keep the Streets Empty For Me" made an incredibly persuasive argument and I use it as an example when debating with people about whether Bella is an empowered or active character.

I am a particular fan of your movie vids. That said, I've also loved stuff you've done in Luther & Top of the Lake. Looking down your masterlist, I see a lot of vids I haven't seen and want to try!

First, STFU, Hands Away is a masterpiece.

Even when the concept is high and I don't think I'll understand it, you still are able to grab me and enchant me, like with Parable. I never read the book, but that vid is amazing to me.

Sound the Bells made me weep and there's only a handful of things in life all together that make me do that.

Seamstress has excellent lyrical interpretations. And on that note I love how fiercely you dive into one fandom and make multiple vids.

Cathedrals stands up if you ask me and is a solid first vid.

I still pull up Danse Macabre and watch it when I'm in a shitty mood because it's so lovely.

I'm so glad we're friends too.

Your vids are always so incredibly lovely to watch. Story and theme and everything else aside, I just love the way your vids look and flow. I tend to think of you in the same breath as TSCC; you wrote the book for what a TSCC vid is, for me. There are so many amazing TSCC vids out there, but your work is always what I will think of first and last in that fandom.

I also often return to your vids in one off fandoms. Keep the Streets Empty For Me, Goodnight New York (which is the driving force behind why I watched Bunheads -- thank you for that!), Satan Your Kingdom Must Come Down, and Fame are all vids that I've watched and rewatched and been delighted when I've found something new. And despite my ignorance at Luther and Wonder Woman, I have never been disappointed when I've taken a look at your vids there, either.

I love Such Great Heights and Sound the Bells. I also enjoyed vids by you when I didn't know the source at all. I really enjoyed Parable, even though I had no idea about the books.

You are one of my favourite vidders humans. I remember when you made Cathedrals and I thought you were some secret foreign BNF from some amazing hidden vidding kingdom and I remember last month when you made me a secret surprise OT3-of-forever vid. And I remember all the vids in between including most of the ones you pulled off the internet in shame because MWAHAHAHAA you were wrong they were awesome.

I love and don't understand the way you vid in big, impressionistic strokes and then drill and distill down as you redraft, ending up with this beautifully crafted, effortless swirl of moments and motion. Watching you do that during Hands Away was the best.

I love your Sarah Connor feelings and how they haven't gone away and you still make vids for her, it's really wonderful. (And makes me feel better about the characters I can't get over either!) All your crossover vids are amazing, Keep The Streets Empty had a real impact on how I engage with Twilight, and Sound the Bells is perfect and beautiful. I'm still so in love with Come and Find Me, and I watch I Will Follow all the time because it's so precious.

Each of your vids feels like a wholehearted engagement with the source that pulls out really interesting insights and feelings, and I'm always delighted to see whatever fandom it is through your eyes. <333
