A thing or /f/o/u/r/ seven before I go
heres_luck made my new icon. I love it with all my heart.
(It comes from "Failed Experiments in Video Editing", which closed out the Unexpected Levels vid show. I will explain the joke when I get to the show discussion, but really, you should just download, because who wants to hear a joke explained?)- The invaluable
elke_tanzer is tracking Vividcon reports. You can also find a lot of them by looking
vividcon's friends list.
- Many people announce new vids going up online (including ones from the con) at
vidder.
- Last year the con allowed nonmembers to order DVD sets online after they had time to set up the forms and the tech, and I'm pretty sure they'll do the same thing this year. Join
vividcon or the Yahoo groups mailing list for updates.
- People have started asking me to clarify comments or explain positions--which is great! One of things I am loving about the vidding community is that it offers a public space for the criticism of fannish creations, something that was strongly discouraged by fan fiction communities I first encountered. But for things that require a more thoughtful response, I may not be able to reply until the weekend. It's a bad week at work for me, which means that anything I can't do in a few minutes while taking a breather is going to have to wait. (I could reply instead of making new posts, but yes -- I do put the priority on getting my initial thoughts down rather than responding to the comments on those thoughts.) I'm not ignoring you, and I don't mind questions or corrections. I do apologize for slowing down discussion.
destina mentioned that some people were "posting particular links to vids and pointedly excluding others." If I haven't posted a link to a download page or an lj name, it's just because I don't know about it; if you do and have the time, please let me know and I'll correct the entry. Similarly, if I don't attribute a comment to a speaker, it's because I just don't remember; if you do, please let me know.
destina is collecting all the links to the Premieres show vids here.
- At one point in the con, I said, "It's a real shame there's no TV vidder/anime vidder outreach program. Because the two communities have very different aesthetics, and I think they could learn a lot from each other."
"Hmm," saidelke_tanzer, and scribbled something in her notebook. So I expect it is all in Elke's capable hands and I can relax now.
But if you liked any of the anime vids you saw and want to foment TV/anime revolution, or at least interaction, I recommend (a) sending the anime vidders feedback and specifically mentioning you saw their vids at Vividcon; and (b) posting a link to your commentary atamv, the anime music video community.
