Do you ever get so fed up that you're tempted to post a story with a note that says, "There's supposed to be a scene here which does this, that, and the other thing" instead of continuing to struggle with the damn thing?
Also I'm worried that my paragraphs are too long.

Which doesn't mean I would recommend it. But I wouldn't judge!

This is just more proof that my betas deserve a medal. Particularly the one who fixed the story with that particular "note" in it.

Indeed, I think I can go you one better. I've been tempted to post, like, four paragraphs with a note following them that says, "There's a story that's supposed to be here that does this, that, and the other thing."
But if I were a betting woman, I'd bet that your paragraphs are not too long. You're probably just in that place where you hate the sound of your own voice, and have trouble wrapping your brain around the fact that your readers don't.

I think about breaking them, but I don't want to break them. I guess I will see what betas say, when I have enough paragraphs for a beta.

I've tried skipping to the next bit I actually can write and then coming back, but ended up with a pathetic Swiss cheese thing just hanging there limply. The only comfort I can offer is the lie I keep telling myself: this can't last forever. At the very least, I can look forward to dying at some point and being released from this ridiculous impulse to make words into things. ;)

//More stuff happens. Blah blah blah, crisis of faith. Words are spoken.//
More paragraphs of actual story.
//blah blah blah. Resolution.//
(//stuff// is my notation when writing that I need to, err, write that stuff. Often, I wish to just leave the //stuff// in place, as the writing of it rarely goes smoothly.)

::cough:: It's been an hour. This is my breaktime.

Whether that's an incentive or a warning I'm not sure.
