Friday fives (late as usual)
For International Women's Day (every day), five stories about women, some gen and some not:
Bake Sale: A Mixed Media Collage (Joan of Arcadia S1): 40x30", mixed media (wood, paper, oil paint, pencil, metal, tinsel and paper muffin cups, hard candy, photographs, shellacked brownie crumbs and rice krispy treats, coffee beans, chiffon)
Maternity (Angel S3): Darla, navel-gazing
No Oceans Left (Angel S4): Justine: Confined to sex, we pressed against/The limits of the sea:/I saw there were no oceans left/For scavengers like me.
Outcast (Farscape S1): She daydreamed sometimes of how they'd write it up in the histories: the strategies and the battles and Aeryn Sun's braid, as famous a marker as Fekkar's Twilith clan scars or Durka's glass eye.
Truly and Forever (Buffy the Vampire Slayer S6): I love you, she says, I do this because I love you.
My five favorites of my fanfiction, some about women and some not:
The Language of Angels (Angel Sanctuary): Language and longing were all the angels could take with them when they fell.
On the Way to Grandmother's House (Buffy the Vampire Slayer S5): A portrait of the wolf as Little Red Riding Hood. Because anybody can get lost in the woods. (
mimesere made me a cover!)
Rewritten on the Body (Yami no Matsuei): Curses and blessings.
Sleep for grief (The Sandman): New York, Alexandria, Baghdad
Stories Darkness Tells You (Fray): Once upon a time there was a boy who was afraid of the dark and a girl who wasn't afraid of anything. But that was long ago and far away, and neither of them lived happily ever after.

Thank you.
I like writing flowery.

And Sleep for Grief. And the Fray story. I just love your writing, frankly.
