Rec!

[livejournal.com profile] rivkat visits the Id Vortex: Filthy Mind (Sam/Dean). I loved this, and I'm curious whether other people find it as disturbing as I do.

That is tremendously disturbing! More horror than porn, really (which is not a criticism). And it's one of those stories that really makes you wonder how different it would be from the other character's perspective - even creepier? Somewhat less creepy?

For me the creepy is that it's so much porn. [livejournal.com profile] rivkat asked me why I felt it was extreme even for SPN, since there's plenty of dubcon and evil!Sam out there, and I said that what made it extra-creepy was that Sam wasn't evil and was still getting off on his brother getting raped. Which, um, layers of meta-reflection for the sadistic Dean-loving fangirl, which I totally am.

Hee - that's exactly what I was thinking. It was like this terribly creepy representation of fan desires.

Right--especially with the revelation that Sam's desire/a representation of Sam's desire actually raped Dean instead of just responding to it.

We know Dean's our favorite because we like to throw rocks at him. He is so pretty when he bleeds.

Plus, pretty bleeding Dean makes Sam all butch and protective.

Right, it's - I tend to think of the typical id vortex story as wallowing in the titillation factor, but here, to the extent to which you're titillated, you're there with Sam feeling conflicted and complicit, and it just gets even creepier.

And poor Dean - "you always hurt the ones you love" is twice as true in fandom.
