What giandujakiss said is my feeling as well. I'm less concerned with mamadeb's original post (which I have all sorts of objections to, specified above) or even the comments on her post than with how the discussion changed once it hit other LJs and Fandom Wank.

If I felt the name "Yuletide" or the centering on Christmas was *offensive*, or meant to exclude Christians from participation, then I wouldn't participate. I just feel, as giandujakiss said, that it's *not mine*, and when people argue that it *is* mine, even when they're well-meaning and not as dismissive as many of the commenters were, they're ignoring/erasing a difference of identity that is very important to me.
