Yes. That's what I was trying to explain, at least to my own satisfaction. I get Ed. Ed's the older one, and it was his idea, and Al got hurt worse. I didn't get why Al should feel guilty instead of resentful, or why Al should be more focused on Ed's arm and leg than on his own entire body. (I've run into people writing Al as resentful, and I understand why, because it's the sensible reaction; but I can't write that, because it's just not a reaction I see in canon at all.)
There are so many reasons I love this series, but the bond between the brothers--that's the emotional heart of the show. I love it.
I seem to be the only person more bothered by Ed's dub voice than Al's, but I think I just won't watch it anymore, and will wait impatiently for DVDs.
