Pre-Raphaelite gone Goth gone manga. Summary:
Angels and fallen angels and pretty boys with swords, secret identities, reincarnation, genderfuck, and incest. The story so far:
In the dawn of time, the Organic Angel Alexiel rebelled against God, whose armies were led by her twin brother, the Inorganic Angel Rosiel. Alexiel's armies was made up of fallen angels and demons, which are called Evils, because Japanese notions of English are frequently logical and wrong. In the final battle, Alexiel manages to trap her brother in the earth before she herself is captured and her armies defeated. The Evils retreat and take position of Hell. Alexiel's body is imprisoned in a crystal and her soul is sentenced to reincarnation in an endless series of really sucky lives.
Earth. July 1999. Alexiel's current incarnation is a fifteen-year-old boy named Setsuna who is in love with his sister Sara. (Setsuna and Sara have dirty blonde hair because their grandfather was English. I love it when mangaka inadvertantly prove they have never met anyone of mixed race ever.) Setsuna attempts to suppress his feelings; Sara, who misses him since their parents got divorced and the kids ended up with different custody arrangements, yells at him for avoiding her; and Setsuna mopes around and is comforted by his friend Kira, who is older, sardonic, fights well, seems to earn straight As, and is unbelievably gorgeous. He also has a randomly disappearing pair of glasses that I wish Kaori Yuki would remember to keep on his face more often. Comfort, canonically, consists of Kira talking Setsuna out of mopes and slinging his arm around the other boy's shoulders and sometimes rumpling his hair, but if any of you ever feel like writing a version of this where comfort consisted of blowjobs and displacement sex, I'd be willing to go with that.( Cut for length and spoilers for volume 1 )
