Dear Yuletide writer

Dear Yuletide writer,

Thank you for writing me a present! I'm sure I will love it.

I think the prompts in the details field should be enough, but it's probably worth mentioning that Janelle Monae's The Metropolis Suite (album) is a great fallback if you were assigned for one of the other fandoms but just don't think our tastes in it will be compatible, or none of the prompts suggested strike you as fun. Basically, all you need to do to get enough background for the Monae prompt is watch this seven-minute video (which I obviously think is TOTALLY AWESOME). For additional background, you can always find the other songs on the album. It's an EP, not a full-length album, so if you decide to buy it, it only costs US$7 and takes about 20 to 30 minutes to listen to.

This is not because I don't want the other prompts, though! I just want all of them, so I will be happy with any. I would be equally as excited to see a story for Fringe, Phantom Dream, or The Hazards of Love. Please don't feel like now you HAVE to write for The Metropolis Suite, no matter what you signed up for; that's not what I intended, and it would make me really sad to think of you forced into an obligation you didn't intend to enter.

Oh, one more thing -- I'm not a Christian, so I would rather not receive a Christmas-themed story.

Thank you for writing for me! I hope you have fun doing it.

Best wishes,

thuvia

ETA: Since I'm reminded I like to see full requests when I read other people's letters:

Janelle Monae - Metropolis: the Chase Suite (album)

Character: Any

Details: I love the Many Moons video and want to know more about any part of that world -- the androids, the groups of people, the revolution started by Cindi Mayweather. 'Droidcest is fine, though not required. Since the crowd scenes indicate this world or at least this city is multiracial but predominantly black, I would prefer a story that focused on the characters played by people of color (whether human or android) and not the few white characters we see.

The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love (album)

Character: Any

Details: I would love anything. Here are some prompts, if you don't have one of your own; What happens to Margaret and William's child? Does it become the Forest Queen's next son? What would it be like if Margaret were the forest's daughter and William was the river's son? What happened afterwards? How did the Queen meet the Rake? Set the story somewhere and somewhen else.

Fringe

Character: Olivia Dunham

Details: Olivia is my favorite character. I would love a case where she investigates the Fringe mytharc, or a mystery of the week, or even a character study where she is just interacting with one of the other characters.

Phantom Dream

Character: Kaname

Details: I would love to know the story of Kaname's first days in the Otoya household or anything focused on her bittersweet romance.

Fringe!!!

I am so excited that we'll be getting more canon soon. I am hopelessly enamored of most of our central characters and I just want MORE. :-)

I am very into Fringe this year! It is going to be one of my festivids requests, too.

Oh, there should totally be more Fringe vids. I love the fact that festivids is happening; if I weren't having a baby in four weeks, I would totally be participating in that. I hope it happens again next year (and I hope that by next year the prospect of making a vid for someone feels feasible again...) This year, I figure as long as I write my Yuletide story as soon as I get the assignment I should be okay, but I'm still cutting things a bit closer than I really prefer. *wry grin* My sweetie has offered to take dictation after the kidlet is born, if it comes to that, though I really hope it doesn't...

Thanks for the previous Janelle Monae recs, BTW. Apocalypse Suite lives in my car stereo now and I tear my hair out at all the time I was thisclose to her here in Atlanta and was blissfully unaware. (NEW SONG (http://www.kiasoulcollective.com/home/music/) AAAAAHHHH.)
